Happy Fourth of July everyone! We are finally having a warm and sunny 4th this year in San Francisco. Normally we get a lot of foggy weather in the summer so wearing a winter coat to watch the fireworks here is normal for us. But this year it should be hot! I’m excited about that and have my fingers crossed for clear skies during the fireworks.
I hope you get to spend time with friends and family outdoors this holiday. I’ll be joining my good friends for a day and evening of sailing in the Bay. This is the first time ever I’ll get to watch the fireworks show right up close from a boat so I’m thrilled. I just hope the water won’t be too rough.
If you’ve never been on a sailboat before, it is a totally different experience from being on a motorized boat. Sailing isn’t for those with a weak stomach or people who are uncomfortable being at a 45 degree angle to the surface of the water! The San Francisco Bay is one of the windiest places to go sailing and it takes a lot of skill to maneuver a sail boat and get used to a lot of leaning. Fortunately I don’t have to work any of the rigging. My job is just to take good pictures without falling overboard. 🙂
What Does Freedom Mean To You?
When you think of the Fourth of July what runs through your mind besides barbecues, picnics, and fireworks? Independence. Freedom. When you hear the word freedom, what runs through your mind? Do you actively celebrate liberty and openly express yourself?
Let’s each take a few minutes today to remember how lucky we all are as we celebrate our independence and freedom. Sure our country isn’t perfect but we have a lot of fantastic rights and benefits here that we shouldn’t take for granted. Make the most of what you have in the moment!
With June now behind us, summer is flying by. Embrace the opportunities that lie before you and make the most out of what’s left of summer. Quit making so many excuses already! Celebrate your freedom and set sail on a life filled with more excitement, energy, action, and adventure.

Sailing On The Bay
Here are some pics from my last sailing trip. There’s a spec of a dolphin right in the middle of the first picture below. I wasn’t quite fast enough to catch a good shot of him on my last trip. Hopefully I’ll get some even better pics out on the water today!
Untemplaters, how are you celebrating the 4th of July this year? What does freedom mean to you? Is it scorching hot where you are? Anyone ever been sailing before?

When I thing of the 4th I think of freedom and the opportunities we have living in America. I also think about what I am getting for my birthday and being dragged to another fireworks show. The family loves them but after years and years of seeing and hearing them on your birthday it gets old. Great pics from the sail boat. Looks like that would be something my family would enjoy. Thanks for the pics!

I always wanted to learn how to sail. One of these days, I am going to take a class with Recreation & Parks. We are having friends over just like some many years. The only difference is it is no longer children centered.
