It’s funny how I used to think I knew it all when I was in my teens. I thought I had the whole world figured out. But I really didn’t have a clue lol. And even though I know a lot more now than I did back then, at least now I’m smart enough to realize that there’s still a heck of a lot I don’t know.
There’s always more than one way to look at something, and in life there is usually more than one answer to the same question. I love how we can grow and broaden our minds by listening to other people’s perspectives. Think how shallow, empty, and lonely life would be if we didn’t have the wisdom, insights, and advice of others past and present. Here are 10 positive philosophical quotes I really like that we can all learn from and utilize to help us focus on the bright side of things.
All people smile in the same language. – Anonymous
This quote is so universal and happy. We can communicate a lot with just smiling to someone even if we can’t understand the words they are speaking.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. – Helen Keller
Think positively, focus on finding the bright side of things and there will always be light in your life. Think of all the obstacles that Helen Keller was able to overcome and what an impact she made on all of us.
Every artist was first an amateur. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
We all gotta start from somewhere! Practice makes perfect as they say and even the greatest of greats was once a beginner.
Silence is one of the hardest arguments to refute. – Josh Billings

Everybody is always in such a hurry! Myself included, I know. But how great is it when we can slow down and treasure the special moments in our lives. Stop. Look around you. Live!
Out of clutter, find simplicity. – Albert Einstein
Every time I move, I can’t believe how much stuff I’ve accumulated. So I’m continually looking for ways to simplify and minimalize. Traveling reminds me how little we really need to be happy and thrive!
Youth is not a time of life – it is a state of mind. – Anonymous
My mom surprised me when she turned 60 and said she never really thought about the age she was turning on her birthdays, even at 60. Her youthful attitude makes her such a great supporter, friend, and mentor.
Each day comes bearing its own gifts. Untie the ribbons. – Ruth Ann Schabacker
We all have more than we think! There are treasures all around us that we just have to take the time to open up and see. We should never take a day for granted.
The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up. – Mark Twain
There’s amazing healing power and reward in helping others. One reason I love to write is because I believe that at least one person out there will be able to benefit from what I write. It feels great to give back!
Wealth consists of not in having great possessions but in having few wants. – Esther de Waal
The more we want, the more empty we end up feeling. As Buddhist teachings say, desire causes suffering. We really don’t need a lot of physical things or money to be wealthy and happy in life.

“The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.”
That’s my favorite out of these 10. If I’m feeling really down for whatever reason, I usually get some fast food, go to the drive thru and pay for my food and tell the cashier I want to pay for the car behind me as well. This will not only make the person behind you happy, but yourself and probably the cashier as well. It’s a win-win-win so to speak. Kind of a long random comment. But just wanted to share.

Thanks for your comment Parker! That’s a great way to cheer people up including yourself. I’ve never had that happen to me before, so I can imagine what a cool surprise that would be for anyone it happened to. Great tip!
