I’m a San Francisco native, and I now live in Beijing. My work in China has focused on education, microfinance, and corporate social responsibility. I currently work as a corporate trainer for Yaxley Education. I enjoy this work because it gives me the opportunity to learn about up-and-coming fields like wind energy, patent law, and China-Africa relations, in a rather personal way.My Chinese boss once asked how I learned to write (in English.) I pointed to three phases of my formal education: as a "literary lawyer" in high school, as a student of Spanish, and as a workshop participant creating personal poetry. I think my broad education makes me a good teacher.I also study Chinese with a wonderful tutor and help an American professor with China-focused environmental law research. I'm particularly interested in the ways that environmental ideas spread through society, through both top-down policy and grass-roots action.I love traveling, good food with good friends, and events that involve costumes.
